I’m going to cover some other cars from the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in a video next week but for now, let’s focus on BMW M8 Gran Coupe in this article shall we?
Am I the only person on this planet that’s not that excited for this fabulous M8 Gran Coupe concept? Don’t get me wrong, the concept is stunning and there’s no bad angle on this car. It looks like a proper BMW should look like. I love the colour, I love the new grille, I adore the headlights. It’s freaking awesome! BUT…
‘So why don’t aren’t you excited about it then?’
…quite frankly it’s because of the leaked photos of the new BMW 8 Series from a couple of months ago. And if we put that against the Coupe 8 Series Concept, well, it looks underwhelming to say the least. They’ve toned it down quite a lot unfortunately…
Also it’s been nearly 10 months since the Concept was shown and we still haven’t seen any images of the final production car. So I don’t know. I’m a bit skeptical and I won’t get excited about this BMW M8 Gran Coupe until I see the final production version.
Otherwise there’s no real info about this car except for the regular PR mambo jambo.
‘The BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe is designed to stir things up, to polarize – it should move you emotionally,’ explains Domagoj Dukec, Vice President Design BMW M and BMW i. ‘With this car we want to reach people who are looking for something special and who want to stand out from the crowd. Here, BMW M is unmistakably taking luxury out of its comfort zone.’
I would like to end this article by giving a huge thumbs up to BMW’s Design Studio. The concepts they’ve came up with in the past year are insanely good. The 8 Series Coupe, the M8 Gran Coupe and the X7. Pure joy to see these awesome designs. One can only hope the marketing/sales team doesn’t screw with them too much.
I hope to God that at least the headlights and kidney grilles make it to production. They look pretty epic!
