This is a BMW X1. No really, it is. I’ve seen a lot on modified BMWs in my day, but I have never seen a SUV tuned in such a way before. When was the last time you saw widebody, front splitter, carbon fiber rear wing and SUV in the same sentence? So here goes nothing.
Today we’re taking a look at Chrille’s highly tuned E84 BMW X1. This is the 13th look of the car so far and if there’s one thing you need to know about Chrille is that he’s really passionate about cars in general and about tuning in particular. He’s so passionate that he ordered the coilovers and booked an engine tune appointment even before he bought the actual car!
… diesel engine tuned to produce about 210HP…
This isn’t the most powerful BMW out there, but after experiencing it I can safely say that it’s not that slow either. The engine is the familiar 1.8 diesel unit tuned to produce about 210HP and, get this, it’s straight piped. So that you can hear the proper diesel sound, according to Chrille.
Japan Racing JR11 wheels and BR Racing Coilovers
The car rides on 19×11” Japan Racing JR11 wheels wrapped up in 265/30 R19 tires, all around. It sits lower by 102mm at the front and 80mm at the rear thanks to the BC Racing Coilovers, BR Series: Type RA. They are modified in such a way that if needed, they can lower the car by an extra 29mm. The fender flares are custom made out of glass fibre, just like the front splitter. A Seibon GT style carbon fibre rear wing has been mounted on the back window, to complete the look.
There are other small mods all around the car, but I’ll let you discover them in the video below.
